So it took me more than a year to get things really going….what can I say, I have my faults. My obsession with perfection is one of the reasons and another is……procrastination. Don’t fault me for that. It’s in the genes. I get it from my Dad. Thanks Pa!
Let me tell you a little about my Mum….
Welcome!!
This is a welcome to me. I have been holding this off for far too long for various reasons - “I have too much to do”, “I have nothing to write about”, “I’m not good at writing”, “I’m just not passionate enough” - some of the reasons excuses that I dwell in. So welcome to me for stepping out of my comfort zone!
I still haven’t found my niche but this is what I love. I love baking. Lots of it. I bake when I’m happy and I bake when I’m stressed. I bake for birthdays, Christmas, Eid, 1st Holy Communions, playdates….you name it!

Cookies I made for Jana’s 1st Holy Communion.
With baking, comes eating. I thrive on trying new foods. I have a husband who thankfully loves food as much as I do and he also happens to be an awesome chef. It’s my Darling Chef (let’s call him DC since he wants to stay anonymous for now) that has opened my world to fried grasshoppers in Thailand (couldn’t say I cared much for them), fresh shucked oysters (couldn’t get enough of them) and caviar on homemade croutons, that my girls absolutely love! But it’s the foods that make me feel nostalgic that I long for the most - hot crispy pastries filled with sardines (epok-epok), sticky rice with palm sugar and freshly grated coconut (lopes), sweet and creamy durians….mmm…excuse me while I salivate…
Another thing I love is street festivals…maybe it’s because somehow there’s food invloved somewhere. I love the vibe and I love the vibe of local farmer’s markets. I love how it makes me feel that I should shop local, I love the feeling of community, I love seeing people dance in the streets…although I hardly ever dance but DC boogies down the street with girls.
So as you can tell, this blog will be about things I love. And one thing I love doing is going off tangent while talking about something in particular - but you will come to love that about me along the way. So welcome you and welcome me to a very interesting beginning!
Ju’eta …xox
